The Manchester Public Health Development Service Resource Library provides health promotion materials and resources for loan from two sites in the city, free of charge to anyone with a role in health promotion.

The Resource and Information Library Service is available to any individual who works or lives within the boundaries of Manchester.

All new users must complete a membership application form and will be issued with a non-transferable membership number.

Opening times

North base    Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 9.00am-4.30 pm Wednesday 9.00am-12.30pm (closed in the afternoon)

South base   Monday - Friday 9.0 am - 12.30 pm (drop-in) 1.30 - 4.30 pm (appointments only)

Books, videos, slides, teaching packs, models and equipment are available for loan, free of charge.

Free leaflets on various health topics are on display in both libraries. Leaflet order forms and lists for ordering leaflets are available upon request, leaflets can also be ordered via email.

Each base has a selection of posters.

Access to the Internet is provided.

Loan Period

Videos/Games/Audio tapes - 7 days
Equipment - 7 days Books/Teaching packs - 21 days
Up to 6 items at a time may be borrowed but only 3 on any one topic.

Conditions of Loan

All resources and equipment are loaned free of charge as long as they are returned on time.
The full procedures for overdue resources and conditions of loan are displayed in each base.

Annual Closure

The service is closed on statutory holidays, the days between Christmas and New Year and for one week each year for auditing. You will find closure dates for the year ahead in the Resource Libraries.
